It is necessary to have exposed handlebar to attach handguard to handlebar.
The right handguard perch is generally mounted to the left of the throttle block. The threaded rod is used to provide the maximum adjustment to the left or right. You can be sure that the handguard is positioned properly for your normal grip position.
The left handguard perch is generally mounted to the left or right of brake reservoir. You can position the perch to go over the controls or under depending on the best position for you and the placement of other components.
